Torque's Business Cards

Torque Creative is where I work. It’s an in-house design firm for TTI (a manufacturer of power tools, vacuums, and other stuff). Anyway, we developed an identity for our group a few years ago, and recently our creative director (my boss) has begun the process of designing business cards.

The cards will be two-sided : 4-color on the front and 1-color on the back. The concept is pretty cool – all of the designers were asked to submit 3-6 designs for the back of the card (the 4-color side). The only requirement was the the Torque logo be represented somewhere on the piece… unaltered. His plan is to flood the entire press sheet, print a bunch of the 4-color side, then do separate runs to finish off the 1-color side when we hire new people.

I really think the idea to include all of the designers is a brilliant way for everyone to have a sense of ownership over the brand. Even better, it shows off the versatility of the talented group of people that work in this place. Not to mention, I can’t wait until we start doing the obligatory 5-minute “business card shuffle” at the beginning of client meetings…. they’ll be a nice conversation piece.

Oh, yea… they also show that we can handle more than just power tools :-)

Below are some of the designs that I submitted.
