I rarely post stuff about the corporate side of where I work. In fact, the only thing I’ve posted so far about anything Torque are the business card ideas from a while back. Anyway, I wanted to throw this one out there because I was pleased with it. Not only a decent design… but it was quick. (more…)
this is cool… The Toyota IQ has a small wheelbase… small enough to create it’s own font. Check out the video, but be forewarned that the music is kind of annoying. Here’s the article on treehugger where you can download the font.
My mom had been retired from teaching high school art for about three years now. Since then, she’s been spending her days working at a local goat farm and loves it. Lately though, she has been spending more and more of her time drawing animals. (more…)
So, most of the time I’m just fine doing what I do, and living how I live. However, there have been a few occasions when I’ve truly wanted to be independently wealthy… like now. I heard this morning on NPR that the Ennis House is up for sale in L.A. A modern architectural landmark, Decker’s house in Blade Runner, great view of the city of angels – awesome. If only I had millions…. check it out here.
So I’m online a good bit… there is a lot of stuff that I run across on the web that originates from friends, other blogs, news sites, and just happenstance. In light of this discovery, I’m going to expand on the theme (if that’s what it is) of stringshot, and start posting stuff other than my own work. No worries, everything will be carefully reviewed before posting in order to preserve the integrity of the blog’s interestingness quotient (or make it higher).
Thought this TED Talk was great. It shares my view on the way people should think about marketing… or less about marketing and more about telling their story.
Torque Creative is where I work. It’s an in-house design firm for TTI (a manufacturer of power tools, vacuums, and other stuff). Anyway, we developed an identity for our group a few years ago, and recently our creative director (my boss) has begun the process of designing business cards. (more…)
Sorry for the lack of posts for the past few weeks, I’ve been working on a small portfolio site for a friend. It actually turned out to be a pretty nice experiment for me. Since it’s a photographer’s portfolio, I wanted to make sure that images were incredibly easy to upload and maintain. So, the backend of the site has image resizing and slideshow reordering build in to the web interface. Not to mention, the blog and all other pages of the site are administered through Wordpress. Nice and slick for Jimmy – I’m pretty proud of it. Like I said, it’s a simple site, but I always like to challenge myself when I get a chance. Take a look – Jimmy Hern Photography
